Every Friday my sister Lisa steals the blog and this week she’s sharing her adventures in Middle Earth, New Zealand. If you’re a huge Lord of the Rings fan then you must do the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour, it’s worth every cent! Over to Lisa…
There I stood on a sweltering summers day waving my hands willy nilly in the air wondering what on earth our guide, James, was making us do…till he had us repeat five little words ”I’m going on an adventure”, and so began our tour around Hobbiton.
We were warned before we even got to this point if we asked where Harry Potter was filmed we would be sent back to the bus for the duration to read Tolkien, there were some nervous giggles from the group.
Once you step through the little passage and have a first real glimpse at Hobbiton you truly feel like you have been transported far, far from New Zealand, bar the sheep grazing aimlessly on the surrounding hills, to magical Middle Earth.
I’m not going to steal the tour guides thunder with all the fun facts that they will share during the tour (and some will definitely make you giggle at times) but as they say a photo is worth a thousand words.
And at the end of your tour you find yourself at the picturesque Green Dragon Inn (you know you can even get married and have your reception in this cute little spot).
There is only one thing about visiting Hobbiton that would bother me if I were a huuuuge LOTR & Hobbit fan and that being that I would want to spend a lot more time visiting the movie set. Other than this it is a perfect spot to visit, fan or not, it is way too cute to miss.
So what are you waiting for?
xx
