Review: Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe

Let me introduce you to the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe in Paris; I should play hard to get and make you wait till the end of the post to see if I enjoyed my stay at the hotel but I’m not – I loved, loved, loved the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe and here’s why..

After an early morning flight from London we arrived well before our check in time hence our room wasn’t available.  No problem at all, we were shown to the bar area and provided with complimentary drinks while our room was being prepared.

The bar area has a quirky atmosphere and I loved the design of the space but what I fell in love with most was the best tasting raisins I have ever eaten in my life!  They were like little drops of heaven and I would return to stay just to eat my body weight in these raisins. And don’t get me started about the cabinet filled with pastries; holy moly they looked so good!

While waiting for our room we met Amine who came over to chat and offered us an upgrade to Le Duplex which was a lovely surprise.  Amine offered us a guided tour of the room and after dragging myself away from those raisins I was super excited for our mini tour.

Now are you ready for a snoop inside Room 711 aka Le Duplex – possibly one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in and let me show you why!

Come hither into the lounge and dining area, all very swish..

..on turning left from the stairs you enter the bedroom with the world’s most amazing bed that has sleeping beauty properties.

Fact: Sofitel have the best beds I have ever slept in!

Pull back the curtains for a view of the Eiffel Tower..

It’s not every day that a girl gets a hotel room with a view of the Eiffel Tower now is it! (I think we need a close up!)

…on leaving the bathroom you walk past a very large walk in wardrobe / storage area where you could store loads and loads of shoes or potentially hide all the shopping from your other half if needed and his dead body if he complains about the shopping…

Now let’s talk bathrooms; this is possibly one of the best I have ever seen inside a hotel room with a special little extra, our own hammam.  It was at this point that I gave Amine a huge cuddle – a hammam in your own room; that’s totally worthy of a cuddle!  Sofitel use Hermes toiletries just in case you’re wondering.

After G had received a lesson on how to power up the hammam and we had waved goodbye to Amine, there was no waiting – we were getting all hot and steamy in that bathroom and it was just what the doctor ordered.

Now I have to say a big thank you to the Sofitel for our wonderful welcome gift.  I should point out now that there were two lovely pastries delivered to our room with the welcome gift however a certain gluten cake monster managed to scoff one before I could photograph it!

After an amazing nights sleep which left us both in a great mood and ready for the busy day ahead, G asked me that all important question – “do you think you can fit all your clothes in my bag so we can steal the pillows?”.  I’ve never stolen anything from a hotel before but those pillows; I would happily go to jail for!  We didn’t steal the pillows however if you fall in love with the pillows or even the beds then you can purchase them directly through the SoBoutique website.

Next stop was breakfast and I will be honest, I’m not a great fan of breakfast mainly as it’s frowned upon to eat cake for brekkie but I did enjoy the Sofitel breakfast for two reasons –

No 1. If you eat gluten there is a lot of sweet treats on offer or if you are that way inclined there are plenty of  healthy options available as well.

No 2. If you don’t eat gluten like me, there is a great little corner full of gluten free breads and cereals which are clearly labelled along with a great selection of fruit and juice options.  Can you tell I love strawberries and passionfruit!  Omelettes are made to order and arrive quickly for all the hungry guests.

The service at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe is exceptional, everyone is super friendly, welcoming and willing to go the extra mile – including finding G’s glasses!

The location of the hotel is superb, you’re only a few minutes walk from the metro, the Arc de Triomphe and that famous shopping street –The Avenue des Champs-Élysées. We loved the location as we were close to so many of the big Parisian attractions but at the same time we felt like we were having a true Parisian adventure without the hordes of tourists.

I will be honest, if I could change one thing about the hotel it would be the wifi – it wasn’t the strongest and I had to use 3G on my phone to get signal at times.

As you can see, I loved our room and the hotel and would highly recommend staying at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe if you get the chance when in Paris.  Spending a extra few pennies on accommodation in Paris is definitely worth while as unfortunately not all Parisian hotel rooms are created equal.

Would I stay again; most definitely!  The service, room quality, the pillows and location are worth every penny!  You can book the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe by clicking right here.

We loved the Sofitel so much that we are booking our next Sofitel adventure at The Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan.

Disclaimer:  I won a free nights voucher to use at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe in the #GirlsTravel chat which is held every Monday evening at 6pm GMT.  We were provided with a lovely upgrade on arrival and I can’t thank the team at the Sofitel enough for this.

xx
