Afternoon Tea at Conrad London St James

I thought since it was good enough for John Lewis to start showing their Christmas ad, it was good enough for me to show you a very cool Christmas Afternoon Tea at Conrad London St James.

In September (yes you read that right, Christmas in September and I’ve sat on my hands and waited until November to show you this Afternoon Tea as who is thinking about Christmas in September or even October!)  I had the lovely opportunity to have a sneak peak and taste test of the Christmas Afternoon Tea and it’s a goodie, so let me show you why.

Sandwiches

I love it when Afternoon Tea gets a bit of a shake up and it started with the gluten free savoury selection which included a Brussel Sprout Salad which was actually really yummy (and I hate Brussels!!), Turkey Ballotine, Parma Ham Wraps and a good selection of sarnies.

And just in case you wanted to see the vegetarian savoury selection, I had the lovely Sarah from More Than Just Another Cupcake Lover sitting next to me who was super kind to let me take a photo. (I may have elbowed poor Sarah away from her food so I could take a photo – what’s a few bruised ribs between bloggers).

Scones

This was my third visit to this hotel and on all three occasions the gluten free scones have passed my scone test with flying colours – how’s that for consistency!   The scones are served up warm with homemade strawberry jam, blackberry-curd and clotted cream.

Pastries

After trying out the Chelsea Inspired Afternoon Tea that the hotel offered earlier in the year, I knew the Christmas Pastry selection was going to rock my little world.   As I’m gluten free I normally suffer from gluten envy however not with this afternoon tea from Conrad London as everyone is provided with gluten free pastries.

Now you are probably thinking what?!?  There were 30 bloggers attending this event and there were no complaints (and I’m pretty sure most of them didn’t even know they were eating gluten free pastries!).  Zoe and her team didn’t want anyone to be left out (i.e. us gluten free freaks!) so they created pastries that everyone could enjoy together hence no food envy!

So the gorgeous gluten free pastries on offer are a Winter Berry Christmas Tree, Chocolate Orange Battenberg Present, Snowflake Macaroon, White Forest Yule Log, Christmas Postcards Marshmallows, Mini Meringue Snowmen and Edible Snow.

Tea

Only the best tea is served here which is Jing Tea!  You can’t go wrong with any choice, trust me – we drink Jing tea at home.

Atmosphere

Big comfy sofas, check! Beautiful floral displays, check!  Christmas music, check!

Service

The service was really good, too good in fact as I didn’t have a chance to pop one of those gorgeous silver tea pots in my handbag!  I suppose I will need to go and sit on santa’s knee and whisper in his ear that I want a giant silver tea pot for Christmas now.

Would I recommend? Totally, this has to be one of the best Christmas inspired Afternoon Teas you’re going to find in London this festive season and you won’t suffer from gluten envy with this Afternoon Tea.  The Christmas Afternoon Tea at Conrad London St James runs from the 24th November through to the 24th December.

Afternoon Tea costs £35 pp or £45pp with free flowing Champagne (they’re pretty good topping up those bubbles, I know from my previous visits!) and can be booked via this link.

So where is your favourite place to have Afternoon Tea at Christmas time?  If you visit, let me know what you think of the Afternoon Tea.

Disclaimer: I received a discounted price for the Afternoon Tea for review purposes however only the good boys and girls get a good review.
