Earthquakes…
One of the worst hit areas from Monday mornings earthquake is Kaikoura on the East Coast of the South Island; if you’ve done the touristy thing in New Zealand then you would have probably visited the area to see the seals, birds, Sperm Whales and Dolphins.
Currently the only way to enter the town is via air or sea…the whole town is completely cut off due to the number of landslides which you can see below.
I wanted to share how you can donate to the November 2016 Earthquake appeal…the link to the Red Cross website is here…every little penny or cent helps someone in need and it’s super easy to donate.
New Zealand is a fabulous community…as a country we pull together and create one giant community and even though I’m currently based in England, I’m still proud to see individuals helping each other out in a time of need.
My family weren’t affected in this current earthquake however in the big Christchurch earthquake a few years ago my dad was visiting the city on business…when he got home he said, what you see on the television is nothing compared to the reality of seeing it in person.
While Kaikoura was hit extremely hard in this latest earthquake, my hope is that it will become a thriving community again thanks to tourism so I wanted to share some very old photos from our road trip via Kaikoura from a few years ago.
The Red Cross are also raising funds for the Syrian Crisis Appeal and with winter coming this is when money is needed more than ever…I’ve talked about Syria on my blog before as it’s one of my favourite countries in the world.
In this busy world, I think we forget to think of others at times…it only takes a few seconds to donate and your donation can make the world of difference.
xx
