All Aboard the Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Ship

I love big ships!  When I was given the opportunity recently of having a tour of the Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Ship while she was docked at Southampton Port, I jumped at the chance.  After working in the shipping industry for years I still get excited about having a tour of a ship regardless if it’s a container ship, oil tanker or a luxurious cruise ship.

So today I’m going to take you on a tour of the Celebrity Eclipse as I know you all want to have a little snoop inside.

The Library

Our first stop was The Library and the area was light and airy and would keep a book worm happy for many days at sea.  I could see myself snuggling into one of those big chairs with a good book.

The Accommodation

The ship has many different accommodation options available for every budget and it was nice to have a sneak peak inside the rooms!

The State Room – the perfectly designed State Room includes a number of hidden features including a bed with rounded edges to give you more space in the room to a handy little bar in the shower so you can shave your legs with ease.  The room is designed with comfort in mind and includes a balcony so you can watch the world pass by with a glass of bubbles.

The Sky Suite – is a corner suite and feels extremely spacious.  Now if you want to roll around in the same bed as Ben Fogle slept in ladies then this is the suite for you!  Ben Fogle is a Celebrity Cruises Destination Ambassador and you can read more about his adventures here including his thoughts on cruising.

The Royal Suite – the suite includes a spacious lounge / kitchenette area along with a separate bedroom.  What did I love the most – your own private spa bath on the balcony!

The Penthouse Suite – As you would expect the Penthouse Suite definitely has the wow factor and comes complete with a grand piano, beautiful art work and enough space to swing about ten cats!

Now I didn’t think it was possible but I was so so wrong; you can have a shoe room at sea! If you are booking the Penthouse Suite then take as many shoes as you can possibly carry as there is so much storage space in this suite.  The bathroom was the biggest I have ever seen in a suite and on the balcony is once again that spa bath.

Canyon Ranch Spa Club

After the tour of all those extremely luxurious rooms it was time to have a treatment in the Canyon Ranch Spa Club and I went for a pedicure.  These lovely ladies are the nail technicians onboard the Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Ship and they are super lovely and we had many giggles!  I highly recommend booking a treatment which you can book prior to your arrival onboard by clicking on the above link.

I was left with baby soft tootsies and a polish that has lasted for over two weeks with no chipping!  I was well impressed with the pedicure and it is definitely the best I have ever had.

The magical products used for the pedicure which left me with super soft feet!

Gym / Solarium

Obviously everyone is concerned about putting on weight during a cruise but never fear there is a fabulous looking gym with floor to ceiling windows to exercise in or you could just sit and relax in the adults only solarium.  Guess which one I would be picking!

The Bars

There are many different bars onboard but quite literally I found this one to be the coolest bar onboard!

The Food

My biggest fear of doing a cruise would be the food; imagine me getting stuck on the high seas with no gluten free food to eat!  There would be a lot of tears!  And I mean A LOT!

We had a tour of the many restaurants onboard which just looked amazing and it was at this point that I thought; gluten free and cruising can go together.  Just advise Celebrity Cruises prior to your cruise of your food intolerance and they will make sure there are some tasty treats on board for you. (Below photos are not gluten free but show the quality of the food that is served onboard the Celebrity Cruise Ships)

So it was time for lunch and my gluten free three course meal; let’s just say it was amazing and I was so impressed with the menu that clearly showed which items were gluten free.  Get ready to drool over the prawn cocktail, a delicious filet mignon steak and a chocolate mousse cake with a caramelised strawberry complete with ice cream.

Let’s get a close up of that dessert; it was as good as it looks!

Ohh and if you’re an afternoon tea fanatic, Celebrity Cruises offers afternoon tea onboard – between the floating shoe room and afternoon tea you should be really clicking on this link to book a Celebrity Cruise!  These delicious little bites are some of the pastries that are offered as part of the afternoon tea (none were gluten free unfortunately).

Have you been on a cruise before?  What are you thoughts on cruising and would you do a cruise if you are gluten free?

Disclaimer: I was a guest of Celebrity Cruises for the day however a free pedicure and lunch hasn’t swayed my views in any way other than getting me thinking that I should be booking a blooming cruise for my next holiday!
