Review: W Hotel London

As a relative newcomer to the SPG hotel brand, I’m enjoying sampling the different portfolio of hotels on offer. After staying at the Sheraton in Krakow and the Grande Bretagne in Athens (part of the Luxury Collection) I decided it was time to try the funky W hotel chain and armed with my free night voucher, I booked us into the W Hotel London located right in Leicester Square as it was a fabulous base for my Open House London weekend plans.

So are you ready for a snoop inside room number 710..

…or as it’s known, the E WOW Suite!  Get ready for your little cotton socks to pop off as this is their top suite and it totally has the WOW factor!

Entering the lounge, the first thing you notice is the space and the biggest couch I have ever seen, so totally rock ‘n’ roll

and it has everything you could ever wish for including it’s own DJ Pod and a cracking mini bar selection.  Now I have to apologise to the suite as I’m not a huge party animal and I like to be in my pj’s by 10pm so I probably didn’t do you justice however we did watch an action flick on the huge telly – just like to keep it all real!

Thank you to the folks at W Hotel London for the lovely gluten free welcome gift

Moving onto the dining area, the design features are just incredible.  To be honest we didn’t use this area as I didn’t want to mess up the whole suite

Now you are probably thinking, where the hell is the bedroom?  Keep your wig on folks I’m getting there!

Seriously this has to be the largest bed I have ever slept in; star fishing is totally allowed!  This was my first time sleeping with mirrors on the ceiling and oh my goodness I seriously need to stop eating scones and do some exercise (maybe next year or 2016!)

Need to hang up your clothes, never fret let me introduce you to a walk through wardrobe that would make Carrie from Sex and the City have kittens!

Bathrooms in London are notoriously small and I wasn’t expecting much considering how much space there was in the living areas BUT it was huge.  To the point that G worked out that it would take 16 steps to walk the length of the bathroom and that’s not including the…

hot tub baby!  Trust me, for research purposes we jumped into the hot tub (and it was freaking amazing) and just to make sure that it was fabulous G tried it again for a second time; thank goodness there are no water shortages at the moment

The staff were fabulous during the whole stay and were slightly concerned when they asked G what he thought of the suite as his response was ‘it’s okay”!  I had to explain that he’s English and let’s be honest they only get excited about dogs and horses (I joke or do I?!?)

As they say a photo is worth a thousand words and this sums up what G really thought of the E Wow Suite at the W Hotel London – G having kittens when he realised that the suite had it’s own fire escape (probably the only real photo I have of G smiling and I’m guessing this is a boy thing as I didn’t share in the excitement!), G doesn’t like to be photographed but I was requested to take this photo of him and finally I kept getting photobombed as apparently he needed to take photos to show his friends!  All in all I think he thought the suite was better than okay.

Would I stay here again; yes as the location can’t be beat for London especially if you are only visiting for a few days as everything is on your doorstep as you’re located right in Leicester Square and China Town.  The hotel offers a lot of sparkle and is definitely something a bit different from the normal bland hotels you can find in London.

My only recommendation would be to wear fancy shoes as I meet three guys in the lift and they put my shoes to shame; they had the whole rock star thing going on! And it’s totally acceptable to do some grandpa dance moves in the lift as the music gets you dancing!
