To quote Carrie from Sex in the City; “I’m looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other-love. And I don’t think that love is here in this expensive suite in this lovely hotel in Paris.” Well Carrie love – there was a lot of love inside my expensive suite when I went on city break to Paris.
For our one night in Paris, we had chosen to stay at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe which I promptly fell in love with for numerous reasons. You can read my full review on the property by clicking right here (go on, it won’t bite!).
If you’re going to splash the cash then I highly recommend staying at the Sofitel as it’s very swish and the rooms are out of this world – we had a hammam in our bathroom! It didn’t take G and I very long to get all hot and steamy!
Oh and we had a view that every girl wants when they stay Paris from our bedroom; oh la la!
Don’t fret, your tummy won’t grumble when you stay…
…the lovely folks at the Sofitel Paris Arc De Triomphe spoilt us rotten with a fabulous upgrade to Le Duplex and an amazing welcome gift!
Later that afternoon we headed out for our Afternoon Tea booking at the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris (try saying that three times after a cocktail or three!) which you can read my full review here (it’s calorie free reading!)
It’s super posh inside, even my Mulberry Handbag received a little stool to sit on.
After leaving the Four Seasons Hotel we headed to Champs-Elysees for a teeny bit of window shopping and a wander around the little streets close to the Sofitel Hotel..
..it’s just super pretty and how I dreamed Paris to be! (It’s taken me three visits to fall in love with Paris)
We had purchased tickets for the Cabaret Show at the Lido for the evening and this was a first for both of us; it was okay but not a show stopper that I was expecting even with all the boobies on display!
Paris in the evening is rather pretty – here’s the Arc de Triomphe all glammed up at night!
The following morning we were up early (strange for us!), we had a blooming amazing breakfast at the hotel before jumping on the metro to get to the Catacombs for our guided tour with My Genie in Paris. As I don’t possess much patience I had purchased (almost) no waiting in the queue tickets for the Catacombs.
Go figure, we got there a little too early for our tour so we had a walk around and sat in the park for twenty minutes
This was G’s first visit to Paris (yes he’s English; roll the eyes!) and all he wanted to see when he was in Paris were six million dead people.
The tour was informative however just a tad too long for my liking; the short attention span was kicking in!
Are you ready to see a lot of bones…
and more…
and one more…
While G wanted to visit the Catacombs, I wanted to eat gluten free chocolate eclairs (I so have my priorities right in life!). Success at Helmut NewCake and they have a new shop opening soon. Bless G’s little cotton socks by saying that he would only eat one of the four chocolate eclairs!
Our one night luxury weekend in Paris was almost over but not before checking out the Cathay Pacific Lounge at Charles De Gaulle Airport – it’s pretty flash and had some of the best food I’ve ever seen in a lounge.
Goodbye Paris – I now see what all the fuss is about – I’ll be back (even if it’s just to eat another three gluten free chocolate eclairs!)
