Our very first night in Seville was spent at a cute 4 star hotel called Hotel Casa 1800…and you might be surprised to learn that if we returned to Seville then this is the hotel we would happily book again…not the 5 star hotel that I’ll write about next.
Regardless to what most people think, I’m not a snob when it comes to hotels…I often stay at what I deem to be “affordable” luxury hotels where I can earn points which I can use to gain free nights; I like to watch my pennies even when I travel hence we stay at a lot of chain hotels. Chain hotels offer consistency especially around branding so I know what level of service I should be expecting…booking a boutique hotel is something I don’t really feel comfortable doing anymore…especially with so many rouge hotel reviews lurking around every dodgy website / blog corner.
The reason we stayed at two different hotels in Seville came down to one thing…money! I refused to pay over £500 for a standard room at a 5 star hotel due to Valentines Day especially when we didn’t land to well after 8pm so I looked for a cheaper alternative and found Hotel Casa 1800.
So let’s get ready for a snoop inside –
Check in was a breeze…passports were checked, credit card swiped and we were in our room within minutes of arrival…
…I had just booked us into a standard room…no point booking anything grander if you’re only going to sleep in it before checking out again…the room was small but well appointed and the bed was comfortable, no springs tried to attack me during the night…
…we had to share the room with these ladies!
Most importantly it came with tea making facilities…something the 5 star hotel didn’t…plus there was complimentary water and chocolates on arrival which was a sweet touch.
Our room looked out over the hotel courtyard which meant we could hear a bit of chatter in the morning but it didn’t really bother us at all.
The bathroom was super clean and rather large compared to the room…
…with the hotel branded toiletries…I always take my own so I never really use them unless they’re REN products (I’m a hotel toiletries snob…I’ve called it!).
The next morning we popped downstairs to have breakfast…
…which was rather varied from yoghurts, fresh fruit…
…cheeses…
…and meats…I didn’t ask for anything gluten free as this was suffice for me…
…I really love fresh fruit on holiday…I usually over indulge in pineapple as it’s always nice when you don’t have to cut the pineapple yourself.
The breakfast area was stunning…light and bright; to be honest it felt so relaxed and fuss free that we really enjoyed our morning meal…
…then we saw a lady through the glass rooftop and decided to go for a little snoop on the rooftop…
…G forced me up the stairs…there’s a perfectly good lift that will take you up to the top!
^^^Welcome to your little rooftop paradise!
Obviously during the warmer months this area would be heavily used by hotel guests. The pool looked sparkling clean…I dipped a toe in but it was too freezing for a swim in February…
…but we took in the stunning views of the Seville Cathedral and the Alcazar plus all the other beautiful buildings surrounding the hotel.
Reasons to book yourself in Hotel Casa 1800 Seville
- Location – you’re seconds away from the Seville Cathedral and less than a two minute walk to the Alcazar
- Afternoon Tea – the hotel serves up a free afternoon tea for all guests (I’m not sure if there are any gluten free options sorry!)…the best word here…free!
- Drinks – the hotel offer free drinks to their guests so we snapped up a few bottles of water for our day out sightseeing…and maybe a couple of cans of coke.
- Reception – the staff were helpful and when I emailed them about a taxi transfer, the response time was super fast…like minutes!
- Rooms – while we booked a standard room, if we returned we would book a larger room and there’s even one with a private jacuzzi and terrace.
- Clean – this hotel was super clean…to the point of spotless…and they were still cleaning!
You can book this lovely 4 Star hotel in Seville via the Hotel Casa 1800 Sevilla website directly or do what we did and booked through the booking.com website where I found a rather wonderful deal where we got bed and breakfast for less than £80 all up…bargain! G and I both loved this hotel as it was quiet, unpretentious and super value…just showing that there’s nothing wrong with a 4 star hotel.
So what do you think of Hotel Casa 1800…yay or nay? You can read more about my Seville trip here.
