After falling in love with the Starwood Hotel brand on my recent trip to Athens, I decided to use them again for our city break weekend in Krakow – so let me introduce you to the Sheraton Krakow.
The Sheraton was celebrating it’s 10th birthday on the Sunday that we were leaving (bad timing for us as there was an awesome HUGE and I mean HUGE birthday cake in the lobby for the celebration). The hotel location is within a short hop, skip and a jump from Wawel Castle and a 5 minute walk from the Old Town – the perfect location in Krakow.
First impressions of the Sheraton Krakow is wow; you are greeted by friendly staff, checked in with ease and then offered a complimentary drink – the drink was a godsend on arrival after travelling from Katowice Airport with a raging cold; it was just what the doctor ordered.
So are ready for a snoop inside our room, let’s go! I had booked us into a Twin Club Room which offered access to the Club Lounge and we received this very comfortable room for our stay which came with our own Krakow Dragon to protect us two fair kiwi maidens. I should point out our little Krakow Dragon is now winging it’s way down to New Zealand as we loved him so much!
The beds are super comfy and can hold over 20 books; just in case you needed to know that. My sister was after some light night time reading during our stay.
The room was tastefully decorated in neutral colours and included complimentary water, coffee machine and tea making facilities.
Now when it comes to welcome gifts, Starwood Hotels are the top dogs! They seriously know how to spoil a girl or princess – shoes and a fabulous selection of yummy fruit! I really wanted a version of these Polish Slippers but couldn’t find a pair in my size when I went shopping – dare I say it, the shoe shopping goddesses were not on my side that weekend!
I love staying at a hotel where staff members are happy and cheerful as their smiles are catching and you just can’t stop smiling yourself. We had numerous encounters with smiley happy staff and many giggles; from the funny revolving door incident through to the lovely lady doing our turn down service asking if we would like more chocolate ahh yes please!
One of the big reasons why I wanted to stay at the Sheraton Krakow was the Rooftop Bar – it’s pretty impressive with views over the River and Wawel Castle. To get a serious case of Krakow wanderlust then you must follow the Sheraton Krakow on Instagram. We had an awesome evening taking in the views and drinking cocktails and I highly recommend the Fluffy Kiwi! Cocktails cost less than £5 each so they aren’t going to break the bank even if you are on a budget.
I’m a big lover of Club Lounge access. Now if you don’t know what this is – it’s access to a Lounge inside the hotel (many of the big 5 star properties have these lounges) and they offer guests staying in the Club Rooms or who have Platinum status in their loyalty programs (depending on the hotel chain) access where the guests can come and go as they please – the Lounge offers complimentary drinks, breakfast, light meals and newspapers.
I highly recommend using the Club Lounges as if you are on the go sightseeing, this Lounge can be a godsend as you can grab a quick something to eat or a bottle of water before heading out again. And yes there is complimentary wine, beer and spirits on offer!
The Club Lounge at the Sheraton Krakow is probably one of the best I have seen and I was impressed with the food selection. You’ve heard of the Cookie Monster well my sister and I were the Prawn Monsters – we ate lots and lots of Prawns as they were so good! The lounge had a view over the atrium and was light and airy.
For some reason I didn’t take a photo of my breakfast (I took my camera but obviously I lost concentration as there was food in front of me!) however I had a great omelette – a fantastic and fuss free gluten free breakfast. The staff were clued up on gluten free alternatives which was fabulous. The following morning we left the hotel to catch our flight before breakfast started and the hotel were more than obliging to provide us with a breakfast bag each – including a gluten free one for me! Top marks to the Sheraton Krakow for this!
Would I recommend this 5 star hotel – Yes! If you are a princess then I would highly recommend checking into the Sheraton Krakow rather than Wawel Castle. The food, drinks and service are amazing and I would recommend this be your first choice when staying in Krakow.
You can book the Sheraton Krakow directly through the Starwood Hotel website and if you are looking for some ideas what to do on your Krakow holiday then check out my post here on this beautiful city.
