For some reason Malaysia isn’t seen as a major holiday destination in Asia for folks from the UK; the more famous cousins i.e. Thailand, Bali and Vietnam seem to be more popular so I thought I would share 10 very awesome reasons why you need to visit Malaysia.
The Food
Seriously…a picture says a thousand words…I could never get sick of the beautiful flavours, the quality and the freshness of the meals that we had while in Malaysia.
The Best Spas
The spas in Malaysia are just glorious…you will feel like a pampered princess and leave utterly relaxed. If you’re like me…you’ll book yourself into the spa two days running as they’re that good; just refrain from booking a tummy massage (ouch!)
^^That’s just the pool area for the folks using the spa at Pangkor Laut Resort
The Luxury Hotels
Often seen as a backpacker destination, the luxury hotels in Malaysia are super impressive and the locations are just mind blowing! From the private island, to the jungle to tea plantations…there is seriously something for everyone.
The Beautiful Beaches
White sand beach and crystal clear waters…what’s not to love…you want to visit Malaysia now don’t you!
The Great Brew
Malaysia produces a lot of tea…I mean, more than I could ever drink in a lifetime…visit the Tea Plantations in the Cameron Highlands when visiting Malaysia and enjoy afternoon tea at The Cameron Highlands Resort.
The Diverse Beauty
I get bored quite quickly…(if I see more than 3 roman ruins in a row I start to yawn) so the diverse beauty on offer in Malaysia definitely will keep you on your toes…from beaches (see above), to tea plantations, to jungles and massive skyscrapers in the capital…you won’t want to shut your eyes for one moment while visiting Malaysia.
Sunrises and Sunsets
I love sunrises and sunsets; it’s something a lot of travellers miss out on (mainly the sunrises, I like snuggling in my bed till 10am too) but watching the glorious sunrises and sunsets makes me appreciate the beauty that the world has to offer.
The Weather
This is such an English thing to add in (and I ain’t English!) but the weather is pretty good…just avoid the rainy season if you can but even still you won’t need a jumper. Just take an umbrella and avoid wearing a long dress.
Le Shopping
Shopping in Malaysia is amazing, the Pound Sterling to Malaysian Ringgit conversion is pretty darn wonderful at the moment so that designer handbag becomes a lot cheaper…the Gucci handbag stayed in the shop (the word mini worried me…I carry a lot of crap in my handbag)…not sure why as I really needed a blue handbag…I really really really do!
The National Airline
My very first ever flight was with Malaysia Airlines (and it did briefly cross my mind it might be my last, it wasn’t obviously) however the food and service were exceptionally good and much better than British Airways…if I had to choose between the two airlines then Malaysia airlines all the way.
Have you visited Malaysia before? Did you love the country?
