Udi's Gluten Free has invaded the UK!

Every so often the UK gets invaded by something great and this time my forever hungry puku (Maori for stomach) is grateful!  Udi’s Gluten Free have crossed the pond and are now invading those “free from” aisles in supermarkets.

I’m going to be totally honest and say I’m not a great fan of gluten free products like breads and cereals etc as they are full of sugars, fat and so many calories that it makes my eyes water (thank goodness for waterproof mascara!).   So when I was sent a hamper full of Udi’s Gluten Free goodies to review I jumped at the chance to see what all those gluten free Americans have been raving about!

Strawberry Flavoured Breakfast Bars

If you only try one of the Udi’s Gluten Free products start with the breakfast bars – why?  Well I’m onto my fifth box of these little beauties and they’re so good that I force random gluten free strangers into buying them as I stalk the free from aisles!  With a breakfast bar they are super convenient especially when you’re travelling, I stuck a few in my hand bag when we went to Copenhagen for the day incase I struggled to find something to eat and have a box in my drawer at work.  Each bar contains only 151 calories!

Chocolate Chip & Toffee Flavoured Muffins

Why hello little muffins, my afternoon snack with a big cup of tea.  While I wasn’t a fan of the toffee flavoured muffin (I’m not a fan of toffee flavoured things), I rather loved the Chocolate Chip Muffin.  These Muffins tasted like normal muffins full of wonderful gluten, seriously I could’t believe they were gluten free.  Great for picnics or just that gluten free afternoon teatime snack.  I don’t feel guilty eating a 294 calorie muffin, do you?

Bagel Chips

I saw the Bagel Chips and had a giggle to myself thinking “these are so American” and then managed to scoff a handful (all in the aid of research I would like to add!).  Surprise surprise I have a sweet tooth so I enjoyed these as they are super tasty and are perfect as a snack with a cup of tea or coffee.  369 calories per 100 grams.

Aged Cheddar Ancient Grain Crisps

Oh my goodness these are so good!  I took them to work for when I was peckish and almost ate the bag in one sitting; they’re so tasty and crunchy.  As I was scoffing them I thought I need something to dip these babies into and got dreaming about hummus (weird mix I know!).  Perfect for a picnic in the park or as a gluten free party food.  344 calories for 100 grams.

Granola

I always find that most hotels will have a gluten free cereal option however I turn my big nose up at it as they’re so full of sugar and calories.  These Granola packs from Udi’s Gluten Free are perfect as there aren’t any added sugars and they come in resealable bags which make them perfect for travelling especially when you have a gluten allergy and are worried about cross contamination.  My recommendation is to use the granola sprinkled on top of greek yoghurt; so good!  435 calories per 100 grams

You can check out the full range at Udi’s Gluten Free website and they’re quickly becoming a gluten free favourite in my house especially those breakfast bars.  I’m seriously surprised on how tasty every item was in the hamper.

Udi’s Gluten Free have a number of new products hitting the shelves so I have got my eyes peeled for the Chocolate Flavoured Sandwich Cookies and the Peanut Butter and Coconut Cookies.

Tesco’s seem to be stocking the Udi’s Gluten Free product range and this includes their Metro stores in Regent Street and Covent Garden (which is a popular tourist area in London).

Have you tried the Udi’s Gluten Free range yet?  What are your thoughts?

xx

Disclaimer: I was provided with a complimentary hamper for review purchases however I’m an opinionated Kiwi so if I didn’t enjoy the goodies you would know for sure!
