Hi De Hi Campers…goodbye June…I’m looking forward to the second half of this year a lot!
Places I’ve Visited and Things I’ve Done this Month
Lovely walks along to the beach to clear the foggy head…
…I finally went to back to work…I was greeted to a glorious sunrise over a million cones and was able to lovingly stroke my double screens…
…I could marry my double screens…spot the accountant…
…and of course a Brunch Date!
Have tried out a few food options at Commercial Bay which is the new shopping development which opened in Downtown Auckland this month…the food is a bit hit and miss if I’m honest…and expensive…
…I found a new love…mustard sauce…bloody hell it was good…
…vegan doughnuts where extremely tasty from Tart Bakery.
I’ve had a few medical appointments this month and was lucky enough to wander through the Auckland Winter Gardens…
…and Auckland Museum; checking out the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition which I used to visit in London. Go and check it out as it’s free and now extended; the photography is stunning.
We had a family weekend away to Rotorua…what do you do when you can’t leave New Zealand…you go out exploring your back yard…
…it was 16 years between visits and the smell…well, it still smells. We did the Redwood nighttime walk which was great if you liked heights which I don’t…
…while Lisa and Dad went on the Canopy Tree Zipline Tour…mama and I went on a lovely bush walk to look at waterfalls…
…much more to my liking…
…and we had a look at a few shops and helped the local economy.
Lime milkshakes…getting my calcium hit the Kiwi way…
…and stopping for my favourite photo stop in the whole of New Zealand!/travel/tirau-new-zealand-corrugated-iron-heaven/
Oh yeah…to the person that left their car unlocked in Matamata…apologies for trying to sit in your car…I got slightly disoriented and opened the door and was starting to sit and realised that a) my family weren’t in the car and b) neither was my pillow…I was trying to sit in the car next door to ours…my dad watched me do this!
Life Things
The last few months were pretty rough for various reasons (am sure a lot of folks are feeling like this) but am looking forward to the next 6 months; they won’t be easy however am looking forward to new adventures, whatever they may entail. One day I may write a blog post about my Covid 19 isolation experience, it was a doozy on so many levels…right now, not a chance in hell!
Health Update
I had a half colonoscopy the last week of June without any drugs…it was a different experience to my normal colonoscopy procedures however it wasn’t too bad. The procedure did play on my nerves…you know, would all the poo come out from the suppositories that were squirted up my bottom…they did a pretty good job but hot damn, it was a different experience from my normal liquid laxatives.
Just waiting for some results and will have a full colonoscopy early next year to check on my whole colon.
The staff in the gastro department at Middlemore Hospital were fantastic; called me to confirm on Monday and was having the procedure on Friday of the same week…on the public system. And I’m lucky to live in Auckland where the wait for a colonoscopy can be done quickly unlike the lower South Island, where it seems to be an utter disaster even after promises of change from the current government.
Plans for July 2020
Move…have guests…and who knows what else!
^^Hopefully this carpet will be in my new home in July!
xx
