Dad loves classic cars and I love going for a ride in his Plymouth Fury (which I’m now insured to drive!!)…so when the Kumeu Classic Car Show was on earlier this year, we hit the road and checked it out together.
The Kumeu Car Show is held over a weekend as there’s quite a bit to see and do…
…from admiring some rather beautiful cars…
…to tyre kicking aka looking at cars that you’re never going to buy but you’ll have a look anyway…
…company stands…
…right through to a buy, swap and trade market.
Most folks are there to check out the classic cars…
…and there are a number of Auckland based car clubs in attendance including hot rods and American classics.
Daddy was looking for certain parts for his girl (his classic car…thought I should clarify that!) but couldn’t source them in the market…
…maybe we will have to pop on our broomsticks and fly to the USA to source them instead!
Inside one of the sheds was a big display of Plymouth cars…
…so we went for a gander.
If you want to attend the Kumeu Classic Car Show, the Showgrounds open up quite early and it’s best to arrive early as it’s summertime so it can get more than a bit toasty hot…
…most folks turn up early so there are a number of cars on display.
^^it was so toasty that I had my chicken legs out on display!
Obviously some cars are more classic or in better nick…
…than others but they’re all superb pieces of history!
Daddy knew that there was another one or maybe two Plymouth Fury’s from his year in New Zealand and we actually spotted one at the show…
…we took a photo on the way out of the almost identical twins!
Tips for Attending the Kumeu Classic Car Show in Auckland, New Zealand
- Arrive early as the roads leading into the Kumeu Show Grounds can be very busy with traffic attending the Car Show but also the normal traffic using the road.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen as the sun in New Zealand burns baby burns!
- Have cash ready to buy your entrance tickets and also if you want to buy anything in the market area. Check out the Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival website for more information on prices.
- People camp overnight at the Kumeu Car Show
- There are hundreds of Classic Cars on display and this is definitely the biggest Classic Car Show in Auckland…there is something for everyone here!
