I love springtime…daffodils are one of my favourite flowers and I just love the abundance of them that you find at National Trust properties scattered around England at this time of year. Last spring, we visited Polesden Lacey in Surrey just as the daffodils were flowering…perfect timing as ever.
We’d just dropped off G’s mum to a wedding and had the afternoon and evening to kill so we headed over to Polesden Lacey for a snoop around the gardens and house. We have membership cards which are totally worth it if you plan to visit a few properties a year…
…entering through the gates…where I spotted my daffodils and one of Birdie Nana’s favourite flowers…the muscari…
…I stopped to take a shoefie with the daffodils…sue me!
^^These Russell & Bromley Chelsea boots are still going well two seasons in…well worth the money and great if you have wide feet which I do!
It’s only a short distance from the entrance to the house…
…we finally spotted her.
Polesden Lacey in all her springtime glory is truly beautiful…I’ve heard that these gardens are superb during the summer months as well.
We walked around the gardens first…
…mindful of the daffodils…not wanting to murder a daffodil or two with my size 7.5 feet!
Even though there was a chill to the air, people were soaking up the limited amount of Vitamin D on offer and fresh air…
…it was rather blissful to be outside as I suffer from cabin fever during the winter months. Winter is my least favourite month even though I thought the snow looked gorgeous on our trip to Austria and Germany recently.
Needing to get toasty and warm…we headed inside Polesden Lacey for a snoop…I have heard a number of great things about this National Trust property (mainly as it’s many peoples favourite NT property) and I wasn’t disappointed.
The interiors are rather decadent to say the least at Polesden Lacey…
…the Gold Room…
…you can imagine yourself walking down this hallway with a candlestick holder to guide you around the house…
…just be careful of those eyes that follow you!
I couldn’t escape the daffodils even inside the property…
…but I’m not complaining.
Now Polesden Lacey gives you the opportunity to see how both sides lived within this property…upstairs, downstairs…
…I love it when you get to see the rather posh side of the house vs the rather minimalistic working side…
…you can even snoop inside the linen closet!
Needing another hit of daffodils, we walked the grounds again…this time taking a number of photos of Polesden Lacey which just looked stunning to the eye…
…she doesn’t have a bad side…
…at all.
Springtime and shutters…
…just beautiful! Too many photos of the shutters?!?! Did I go crazy?!?!
