Staycation Ideas: Fun Afternoon Teas in London and England

As this month’s Travel Link Up theme is all around the Staycation, I thought I would put together a list of some quirky, unusual and darn fun looking Afternoon Teas so that if you are staying within England this summer, you can grab a cuppa, scoff some cake and have a grand old natter.

This month, we are joined by the lovely Mandy from Emm in London as a guest host  for this month’s travel link up along with Rebecca, Emma and I.  The theme this month is all about “Staycation”, so get involved and tell us about your best or worst staycation; staycation ideas or just plain whatever!  Come and get involved as we love reading your blogs.  So without further ado here are some fabulous Afternoon Tea Staycation Ideas!

The Ice Cream Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester

Only offered through the month of August, whoever thought of combining ice cream with afternoon tea deserves a medal – the delightful home made ice cream flavours are Elderflower Sorbet, Cox Apple, English Honey and Earl Grey Tea to tempt your little taste buds!  I want to try this afternoon tea sooo badly!

Volupte Lounge Afternoon Tea

Looking for a sexy afternoon tea, then this is the one for you!  I visited the Volupte Lounge prior to me going Gluten Free and I have to say that we had a fun experience.  I think this is the only afternoon tea where you can buy a pair of nipple tassels while enjoying your scone however I am sure if you asked Claridge’s they would probably run down the road to get you a pair!

Afternoon Tea at The Queen’s House

Afternoon Tea served overlooking Greenwich Park is what I will be doing on my staycation this August at The Queen’s House.  I’m looking forward to having a tour of the artwork prior to sitting down for afternoon tea on the Loggia which is the space that is not normally open to the public.  And they do a gluten free afternoon tea;  jealous much!

Mad Hatters Tea Party at Sanderson Hotel

Looking for a quirky Afternoon Tea then the Mad Hatters Tea Party offered at the Sanderson Hotel is perfect for you.  While I have tried this Afternoon Tea and wasn’t fussed a few years ago, it looks like it’s being improved immensely and has all the quirkiness you would expect to find at the Mad Hatters Tea Party.

The Burger and Doughnut Afternoon Tea at BRGR.CO

Burgers and Doughnuts for Afternoon Tea sound like a perfect way to spend a carb filled afternoon especially if you are taking a guy for this first “afternoon tea” experience – ease him in slowly girls!  For £17pp this afternoon tea looks like a winner and the menu looks incredible; cheap and blooming cheerful.

Afternoon Bee at The Chesterfield Mayfair

After last years successful Willy Wonka themed Afternoon Tea; The Chesterfield Mayfair are now serving up Afternoon Bee – yip its going to be buzzing!  The hotel has 60,000 bees on their rooftop and this has inspired their executive chef to create a brilliant new bee themed afternoon tea based on the bees little journey through a summer garden.

Morning Tea or Afternoon Tea at Bake a Boo

I’m not fussy, I can eat cake for morning or afternoon tea – I’m a cake monster!  Those gluten free cup cakes look so pretty and are screaming to be eaten.  After reading Meg’s review here (and thank you for letting me pinch a photo), I really fancy a trip to Bake-a-Boo so much so I might just have kittens!

Cream Tea in a Treehouse at Fanny’s Farm Shop in Surrey

As crazy as it sounds, a cream tea in a Treehouse sounds a pretty darn cool way to spend an afternoon; check out Fanny’s website for details and photos!

Scones and Clotted Cream at The Orchard in Cambridgeshire

Just on the outskirts of Cambridge, The Orchard in Grantchester is the place to go for scones and to just sit back and relax under the blossoming fruit trees.  The literary history that surrounds The Orchard is incredible as it was a meeting place for Brooke, Woolf and Forster and the wooden pavilion that they enjoyed tea in is still in the grounds to this day.

The Bridge Tea Rooms at Bradford on Avon

The Bridge Tea Rooms are an institution in Bradford on Avon, the vintage tea rooms are extremely quaint and will make you feel like you have stepped back in time but without that awful time machine from Back to the Future!

So what are your Staycation plans for this year?  Will you partaking in a few afternoon teas like myself this summer?
