Booking so many city break adventures recently has meant that we have had to get to the airport super early and a word of warning, I’m a right old grouch first thing in the morning. We decided to stay at the Sofitel Hotel Heathrow before our recent trip to Athens so that we could have a few extra hours in bed before tackling Heathrow Airport on a Saturday morning.
So are you ready for a snoop inside our room (Room 4214) at the Sofitel Hotel Heathrow?
We were lucky to receive an upgrade from our original booking to a Superior Room and the room was very posh for an airport hotel.
The bathroom was super swish and spacious but I did notice that no Hermes toiletries were provided like all the other Sofitel Hotels we have stayed at.
A little bit of edible luxury was left in our room but shhh don’t tell G as I may have eaten it all without offering him a piece – it was selfish flavoured edible luxury!
We decided to venture down to the Club Lounge which was empty of other guests and also of a great selection of drink or food options.
After getting told that they were closing the bar area in the Club Lounge (even though it was meant to be open for almost another hour) we headed to the hotel bar only to struggle to find a member of staff to serve us.
We eventually got served and I soon left G in the bar finishing his drink while I went to use the Gym (don’t laugh!) and here is the reason why I haven’t used a Gym since – the fire alarm went off (it didn’t sound off in the gym area) and so I got stuck in a dimly lit downstairs area and couldn’t get a lift back up to reception. I had a mini panic attack or it could have being a shortness of breathe as I don’t exercise enough; either way I got a bit frazzled.
The following morning on check out we were asked about our stay and I told them about the gym incident and G told them about the staff not dealing with his complaint about an object floating in his drink – the drinks were removed from our bill and we were offered complimentary car parking (which I accepted due to the issues were experienced).
Would I recommend the Sofitel Hotel Heathrow? I’m not sure! The hotel is stunning considering it’s based at the airport and the location is great as it’s an easy walk to the airport (however get ready to get lost as the signage does disappear when walking from Terminal 5 to the hotel). Unfortunately the customer service levels just aren’t up to scratch at the moment.
The hotel is charging 5 star prices and unfortunately aren’t delivering on the customer service front which I felt was possibly down to it being understaffed maybe? I do realise that this is an airport hotel however when you’re a branded hotel you do expect a certain level of service, amenities and an area for their platinum members to check in as waiting for ten minutes plus isn’t a great first impression of the hotel!
