It’s pretty hard to decide on which villages to visit in the Cotswolds however I knew that I wanted to explore Broadway in Worcestershire; it ticked a few boxes – it looked super cute from my pinterest research (sue me, I love this site now for inspiration!), there were gluten free cake options and it was in a new county…tick, tick and tick again!
I arrived in Broadway in a hot and sweaty mess (painting you all a lovely picture aren’t I)…honestly England isn’t made for hot hot summers! As I had just driven from Ross on Wye, I was in need of lunch…aka gluten free cake so my first stop was to sniff out a tea room…
…and this was my saviour, Tisanes has gluten free options galore and they can even whip you up a gluten free afternoon tea on the day (I didn’t try this but I did scoff two gluten free cakes…all for research purposes). The tea room has the option for indoor or outdoor dining…I decided to chill out inside.
After my little sugary pick me up, I was ready to start exploring Broadway.
First impressions…I loved, loved, loved Broadway…
…who doesn’t love a bit of bunting…
…the village didn’t feel too touristy when I visited on the Friday afternoon however I’m sure that would have changed on the weekend (Bourton on the Water scared the living daylights out of me on the Saturday…you know those scenes in movies where a car drives past something slowly and the passengers looked shocked…that was me in Bourton…there were people swimming in the river…I just kept driving!)…
…it felt like a proper little village where locals mingled nicely with tourists…
…and where pubs were overflowing with folks enjoying a cold pint in the sunshine.
I just wandered along the high street snapping away…enjoying the moment…shaking my head at the kids AND adults playing pokemon…
…I kept smiling away happily to myself as it was like walking in a pretty little fairy tale.
Now never fret, there was some seriously good door porn in this fairytale village…
…I didn’t get short changed at all..
…and sometimes you just need a plain jane door!
^^Probably not that much of a Plain Jane really is it?!?
Broadway also reminded me that I shouldn’t look past the humble window…
…is there such a thing as window porn…
…who knows but there were pretty darn cute!
I snooped my way around Broadway like a ninja…dangling my hands through gates to get a photo of this cute little house…look at those bobbly bushes…they do resemble something else if you have a dirty mind…
…it was pretty hard to pick a favourite house…
…there were some pretty big hitters…
…and it was too tough to call a winner…
…which one would you call home?
I kept wandering…enjoying all the beautiful flowers…as much as I dread a heat wave in England, I do love it when all the summer flowers spring to life…
…as they just bring England alive…
…ALIVE…
…<insert evil laugh>! Digressing slightly but I read an article in a gardening magazine recently where it said that a proper English garden is all soft pastels and that red flowers belonged in a whore garden…I kid you not…so am now planning a whore garden as I love red and a whore garden sounds pretty wicked in my world!
Broadway Deli had me strolling through a real estate app on my phone…
…I’m moving to Broadway just so I can buy carrots with a ponytail…
…could someone open a deli like this in Bedfordshire please!
I can’t resist taking a photo of an iconic phone box…
…they scream out to be photographed!
A stroll around a Cotswolds village is good for the soul…
…and reminds you how beautiful England is during the summer months (just not in the middle of a heat wave though!)…
…sit back and enjoy the ride!
